Eye contact and the ego

Any discussion on good communication includes eye-contact and why it is so important for trust, to convey confidence et al.

But there is a downside, the moment we make eye contact, we start evaluating how receptive the other party is. We start saying things that they might find agreeable. Not great when you want people to think and speak independently and expand the options, rather than come around to the consensus view too soon.

A key requirement of LSP is that no one makes eye contact. Participants share their model and all interaction, questions are about what is depicted in the model. This is powerful for deep, unguarded conversations.
