We like predictability, comfort, security in every respect. That’s what everyone is chasing in one form or another. A new car, house, ‘enough’ money, supportive people, freedom from stress, free time. But where does that get us? To paraphrase Marcus Aurelius, show me someone who has achieved contentment/happiness from consumption and ease.
Life needs challenges to evolve and thrive. A tough work environment or project helps us discover and unlock strengths. Mental and physical challenges, literally make us stronger and more resilient. Tough times help us forge the best relationships.
Let us be grateful not just for the good things in life, but for the challenges we face. When we look at the big picture, it is the hard times that help us hone our god-given talent and become who we were meant to be. What we see as a roadblock, is the path. What stands in the way, becomes the way.
